Name: Ed Salt
Job title: Commercial director
Company: Delamere Dairy
Sales: £15m
HQ: Knutsford, Cheshire
Number of employees: 11
What's it like to work for your company? People often picture Delamere Dairy as a quaint farm in Cheshire countryside and they are not far off the mark. However these days the goats have been relocated and the barns have become office space to accommodate the continuing growth of the business. We are a small team but all feel fortunate to work for a company with a promising future.
Why is it a good employer? Delamere has always enjoyed a family atmosphere. This stems from the founders, Roger and Liz Sutton. They have always taken pride in the values of their business and this has influenced the people around them. Our employees are proud of the success of Delamere.
Does the company offer any unusual benefits? For the employees who love goats cheese, we offer all the benefits you could ever wish to eat.
How does the company differ from its rivals? We are constantly innovating. This has been demonstrated most recently by our successful leap into the pets products market. Our Toplife Formula range is the first product of its kind to be produced from goats milk, which has been the key ingredient to its rapid growth in this new market.
If the company were a car what would it be and why? Mini Cooper, a quality British design, a premium product, yet affordable. Delamere has been built to the high standards the British are renowned for and will still be around crossing the globe long into the future. Though we have not been bought out by the Germans, unlike the Mini, we do strive for a bit of that German efficiency!
What's the training like and what qualifications can I earn? We always encourage employees to seek out new ideas and experience that will improve them as well as the business. Recently we supported one of our employees through her second degree in marketing. Her graduation picture is proudly displayed for our visitors to see.
Has the company won any awards? Recently we were proud to win the Business Link Enterprise Award.
What is the most important HR issue? Our biggest challenge is managing the growth of the business. We are always on the lookout for talented individuals who can add value to Delamere.
How does one go about applying for a job? Send your CV to info@delameredairy.co.uk.
What tips would you offer jobseekers? Being such a small team we are very selective about who joins, but common sense and a warm personality will go a long way at Delamere.
How do I find out more about the company? Check out www.delameredairy.co.uk or just give us a call.
Are you working on anything exciting right now? We are soon to launch a honey-flavoured soft goats cheese log. It's fantastic!
