What's it like to work for your company? Exciting, challenging and often demanding and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Why is it a good employer? It is a family-owned and run company. The chairman and managing director are constantly on site and take a keen interest, allowing managers and supervisors to achieve their goals and targets with continuous support and advice.

What's the best thing about working there? The team. All the staff have a wealth of experience and their backgrounds and knowledge bring so much character to the business.

Does the company offer any unusual benefits? Chocolate!

How does the company differ from its rivals? With three generations of the Whitaker family currently working at the business, Whitakers achieves an exceptional quality standard by always listening to its customers and reacting to challenges and needs.

If the company were a car what would it be and why? A top-of-the-range Volkswagen not cheap, but not ridiculously expensive, excellent value for money, easy on the eye, a delight to drive, with a quality, reliable engine. But in our case, British.

What's the training like? All training is done in-house with a team of experts passing down their knowledge and ensuring quality standards are maintained. We also do NVQ qualifications.

What's your proudest achievement of the past 12 months? We have just won a new contract for 1.5 million chocolates a week.

What is the biggest HR issue you are dealing with at the moment? We needed to recruit a number of staff to service this new contract and, having filled most of the positions, we're now working hard on a full training and quality standards programme.

Are you looking for any people right now? We're always on the look out for people of the right calibre.

How does one go about applying for a job? We recently recruited 45 people via an advert we placed on local radio the response was immense. We also advertise in local newspapers and welcome speculative CVs from candidates.

What tips would you offer job seekers? Applicants should always make their application form their main selling point it is easily the yay or nay decider. Those who apply should be able to demonstrate an interest in and understanding of both the confectionery industry and Whitakers. Of course, liking chocolate helps!

How do I find out more about the company? www.whitakerschocolates.com.

Is the company working on anything you can tell us about? William Whitaker is working with Sir Ian Botham to help raise awareness and money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research by taking part in Beefy's Forget Me Not Walk.
