Name: Neil Peacock
Job title: Regional HR manager UK & central marketing
Company name: Imperial Tobacco UK
Sales: £8993m
HQ location: Bristol
Number of employees: 420 (UK trading division)
What's it like to work for your company? Imperial is a great company to work for with people high on the agenda. It's a very positive can-do sort of company.
Why is it a good employer? We look after our people well and so have a very motivated workforce. There are great opportunities to progress within the business both in the UK & globally.
Does the company offer any unusual benefits? A final salary pension there's not many of those left!
How does the company differ from its rivals? We offer total category coverage and we are the market leaders in the UK.
Is there a definable company culture? It still has a strong family feel to it. There is also a strong team working culture with everyone working together in the face of the challenges facing the tobacco industry.
If the company were a car what would it be and why? As a global company I'd say we'd be a Range Rover, great in all conditions and terrains, well built, with great heritage and quality.
What's the training like? We always encourage employees to develop and improve; we have a sales training team who pick up the training needs of the sales force and a learning & development team who pick up the organisational development needs for the UK.
We also have a global team who look at generic needs for the group. For employees who want to build on their professional qualifications the company often supports them financially and through time off to study.
What's your proudest achievement of the past 12 months? The reorganisation of our UK operation. It was quite a tough period for everyone but we've worked extremely well together to deliver on our plans.
What's currently the most challenging HR issue? We're implementing a performance management system and recruiting in many areas of the business.
Are you looking for any people right now? Yes, we are looking for sales people nationwide and we also have some positions based at our head office in Bristol.
How does one go about applying for a job? We are just about to relaunch our recruitment website, so in the meantime just send us a copy of your CV with a covering letter to careers@uk.imptob.com.
What tips would you offer jobseekers? You should enjoy a challenge and be prepared to work hard; then you will receive the rewards you deserve.
How do I find out more about the company? Take a look at our website www.imperial-tobacco.com.
Are you working on anything exciting? We're working on our employer branding and have just completed The Sunday Times Best Companies To Work For survey. We're still implementing our reorganisation and have recently announced Alison Cooper will replace Gareth Davis as our chief executive.
