Chris Thompson is the new MD of cake manufacturer Inter Link Foods, replacing Paul Griffiths who stepped down last month to pursue charitable interests.
Thompson rises from group finance director, a role he has held since 2004.
Prior to joining Inter Link Foods he was chief general manager of the food retail business of United Co-operatives. In this role he identified opportunities for profit improvement and ensured organisational structures and systems were in place. He has also worked for Woolworths, Asda and KPMG.
"The board is delighted to announce that Chris has been appointed chief executive," said Alwin Thompson, executive chairman of Inter Link Foods. "Since joining the group in 2004, Chris has made a significant contribution to its strategic development."
A new group finance director would be appointed from outside the group in due course and discussions with potential candidates were well under way, he added.
