Tom Fenison, customer marketing director and Emma Bollard, national account manager, work together at Coors Brewers. Tom on Emma We first met at a company conference when Emma was a fresh-faced graduate. She struck me as bright, enthusiastic and rather single-minded. I haven't been proved wrong on any of those accounts so far. We started to work together properly about six months after that. I was in the brands team for ales and she was a national account manager for Safeway. We had to develop brand and business plans together, which is what we still do, although now its different brands and businesses. It's a sparky relationship with lots of banter. We both like to challenge and question each other's views. She does have this annoying habit of disagreeing with me though and worse still - she's normally right. You can never get hold of Emma. She's got her mobile permanently glued to her ear, which can be frustrating. We have to be in quite close contact most of the time, so I always seem to be trying to contact her. I usually manage it, if not on the phone then by email. Given that we are based in the same office, I prefer to just walk upstairs to see her face-to-face - I'm old fashioned like that. Emma on Tom I would say Tom's tenacity is his best quality, along with a passion for the brands we work on, thorough planning and commitment. He'll always air his opinions, even if they are controversial, but then we are both very forthright in our views. We'd have very short discussions otherwise. Sometimes our opinions are completely at odds, but we've never fallen out. It's never got personal. Launching C2 was our biggest achievement as a team and it was also our biggest challenge. Now we are just focusing more widely on building the brands and implementing everything that goes on around that. Coors is quite a sociable place to work - any opportunity to have a drink after work together is usually seized. We probably have a beer together at least once a month, which is enjoyable, but it's not like we share a mutual love of rock climbing or anything like that. I suppose we are quite different really, but we challenge each other in the right way. It's always an exciting and rewarding experience working with Tom.
