Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was under fire from environmentalists this week for urging viewers of a BBC talk show to eat skate, an endangered species of fish.
The star of the Kitchen Nightmares show claimed there were plenty of skate in the sea, adding that it was a more sustainable alternative to endangered cod.
Greenpeace slammed the comments, saying they could be damaging for fish stocks. "Gordon Ramsay should get his facts straight," said a spokesman. "We need celebrity chefs to be really clued up before they speak publicly about things like this. When a celebrity chef mentions a particular food, sales go up."
