Between boozy barbecues, bubbles at afternoon tea and bottomless brunches in the garden, it looks like there will be plenty of reasons to raise a glass this summer. To make sure there's plenty to catch shoppers' eyes ahead of eased restrictions, Aldi has launched a host of new flavours and variants in the booze aisle. Here's our pick of what's new
The Infusionist Glitter Globe Peach & Elderflower Gin Liqueur
£12.99
Stepping on M&S's toes, Aldi's take on its snow globe gin bottle is available from 25 April, and is £4 cheaper. It's filled with a sweet peach and elderflower gin liqueur and edible 23-carat gold leaf glitter that swirls when it's shaken up.
Champagne Blanc de Noirs Gift Box
£17.99
Definitely on the high-end side for Aldi, the retailer says this posh eggshell blue champagne gift box is a dead ringer for this Waitrose fizz, which retails at £35. Made by Philizot & Fils, the “elegant blend” of pinot noir and pinot meunier pairs perfectly with shellfish and salmon, says Aldi.
The Infusionist Apricot Lychee Gin Liqueur
£10.99
“Delicate, light and refreshing” is how Aldi describes this gin liqueur, which is flavoured with lychee, sweet apricot and pear notes. It also comes in a bubble bottle, a first for the retailer’s own-label range, which can be used as a vase when the tipple inside is finished.
Uruguayan Tannat
£6.99
Tannat is the national grape of Uruguay, and is a rare find in a UK supermarket. This red blends plums, liquorice and spice.
Aperini Apertif
£6.99
Almost a tenner cheaper than branded Aperol, Aldi expects this summer to be awash with Aperini Spritzes as lockdown eases and garden cocktail parties return.
Greysons Mediterranean Orange Gin
£12.99
Mediterranean Orange has been a hugely successful flavour for brands like Tanqueray and Whitley Neill, now Aldi is getting in on the action. It’s launching alongside a Sicilian Lemon variant and both fresh, zesty flavours are reminicent of holidays in the Med, according to Aldi.
Vinho Verde Rosé
£6.49
Vinho Verde has been a huge hit with shoppers, says Aldi, so this rosé is set to go down a storm through the spring and summer. With notes of berries and cherries, this bottle is said to make a great aperitif or pairing for grilled white meat and fish.
Haysmith’s Bramble Gin
£14.99
Thanks to Bombay Sapphire, this autumnal berry is going to be the flavour of summer 2021, says Aldi. It combiens a blend of blackberries and raspberries with a rich crimson colour for summer picnics.
Maple Leaf Rosé
£9.99
Another BBQ-ready rosé, this bottle hails from the Niagara Peninsula in Canada. It's an off-dry rosé wth strawberry, sour cherry and orange blossom notes.
