Following recent trends in premiumisation of own-label ranges, Sainsbury’s has launched a new line of 10 Taste the Difference ready meals, aimed at busy shoppers craving hearty meals without much kitchen prep.
These single-serve dishes feature ingredients inspired by world foods with options like Mexican chimichurri chicken, gochujang roasted cauliflower and roasted butternut squash gnocchi. Available now in-store and online, the range targets mid-week diners and reflects the growing demand for healthier, convenient meals – aiming to move past the old days of ready meals high in salt, sugar and fat.
“As we move into colder months, more of our customers are seeking warm, wholesome meals,” said Claire Hughes, director of product and innovation at Sainsbury’s.
“Last month, searches for ‘ready meals’ at Sainsbury’s increased by +17% and ‘healthy ready meals’ by +55%. Our new range of meals are ideal for those wanting a fresh, delicious, fuss-free solution this autumn.”
From beef brisket to teriyaki king oyster mushrooms, each meal is priced at £5 and takes just minutes in the microwave, aiming to sway premium shoppers down the ready meals aisle this winter.
