What’s new in Lidl’s Vemondo plant-based range

Lidl has officially rolled out its Vemondo plant-based range, offering a 28-product lineup that promises both affordability and variety. With prices starting from just £1.09, the range includes everything from meat free peppered ham to vegan grated cheese - all designed to make plant-based eating accessible to every shopper.

The new lineup follows Lidl’s commitment last year to triple its plant-based offering. The expansion is part of a wider push to increase the proportion of plant-based protein in Lidl’s total sales to 25% by 2030, supporting its net-zero targets. “This isn’t just about offering more products,” said Lidl GB chief commercial officer Richard Bourns. “It’s about breaking down barriers to plant-based eating, ensuring quality and affordability go hand in hand.”

Adding further credibility, Lidl has become the first major UK retailer to use the Vegetarian Society’s Plant-Based Trademark across the Vemondo range. The accreditation, which ensures products meet strict plant-based criteria, has been hailed as a milestone for transparency in the category. “This label gives customers the confidence they need when making plant-based choices,” said Vanessa Brown, head of trademarks at the Vegetarian Society.

With dedicated fixtures in stores and a marketing blitz coinciding with Veganuary, Lidl is betting big on plant-based growth. According to Bourns, the move is about more than just expanding the range: “It’s about supporting a more sustainable food system and helping our customers make healthier, greener choices.”
