Aldi is set to launch a range of reusable face coverings for both adults and children.
The discounter already sells two-packs of washable cotton masks and disposable masks in packs of 10, but is extending its offer as the wearing of face coverings becomes mandatory in stores in England from Friday (24 July).
Landing in Aldi stores on 30 July, the “fashionable” new products are made from double-layered 100% cotton with soft elastic straps.
The adult masks (rsp: £3.99/three-pack) are available in small, medium and large sizes and a range of colours, as well as leopard print.
The children’s masks (rsp: £2.99/three-pack) feature various patterns such as pandas, spots and hearts.
This week, Aldi UK & Ireland CEO Giles Hurley urged shoppers to comply with the requirement to wear masks in shops from Friday.
In an email to customers, Hurley wrote: “It is crucial that we all continue to act safely and responsibly, while also enjoying the little parts of normal life that are gradually returning.”
“If you wish to purchase a face covering, they are available to buy at every Aldi store in the UK,” he added.
It follows launches of reusable masks from Waitrose and Poundland last week.
