Cost pressures have made Lurpak almost 20% more expensive than a year ago. And volumes (down 10.9%) have suffered from Arla’s decision to largely pass this on to consumers. That butter is still in vogue despite its soaring price and the trend for plant-based diets is one positive for the brand. Arla has promised a full NPD pipeline in 2018 despite the recent failure of Cook’s and Spreadable Infusions, putting greater pressure on its core spreadable and block lines to perform.
