Shocked by Tesco decision to trial and most definatly role out this change of the management structure to all format as crazy. After the 12 wk trial this will happen and it's just the top of the ice berg. TL will go as TESCO didn't used to hav TL and the business is going dwn the pan and they need to save money and this is the way they've decided to go. I believe the line manager role will change to and be called a team manager. This will allow tesco to also reduce the amount of line mgrs in store. This will be done by making them re apply for less positions. I just can't understand why people pay USDAW they must be the must useless union I've ever seen. A private union who could represent the whole staff and management team would make more sense and TESCO would struggle to walk all over its most valuable resource the staff. If this happened tesco staff could go on strike then see how quick they resolve the issue. The amount of money they would lose in 1 day would proberly be the equilivent to what they pay TL a year. Especially as TL make half what a mgr does.
