I'm a Security Team Leader as we don't have in store Security Managers anymore (which I get)..when I first took the role on my Store Manager said to me in no uncertain terms: "you will be doing everything the Security Manager used to do, but with less money" (a very honest individual)-Something which I accepted and something I would continue to accept as I LOVE MY JOB and would take a bullet for any one of my team.

Services Managers struggle to cope managing 6 departments (CSD, Photo, Tobacco, Trolleys, Security and Cash) while other Managers (namely stock-control, Better Serv Managers) often just wonder around looking lost!
It does seem a bit backwards, giving 1 manager 6 depts while some others don't even have any staff!
Services Managers would be the most affected if they lost there 3 or 4 Team Leaders. I am proud of the Services leadership team in my store (1x LM + 3x TL) and we work very close and effectively. We have worked hard to unite all the Depts on Services with amazing results (both for the customer and the morale of the teams).

Better Service Managers are a total waste of time and money. If your Line Manager or Team Leader can't teach you how to serve our customers well, perhaps they should reconsider a career in Retail, or certainly there positions. Isn't 'good service' an absolute basic? (Even more so than flexibility?!)

FOR STARTERS: Get rid of all stock control depts. Spread those people out across trading departments - manage your own stock, and more importantly, serve your customer better.

As for you other Security TL's - let's not forget it was made perfectly clear over a year ago (when our role was invented) that the role would be reviewed (terminated) in Week 1 of 2014 (after Lockdown was trialled and seeing through the first couple of MST's)... Its only us good ones that got kept on ;)
