Totally agree with you Sue, I was in a similar position but i managed to got a Team Leader role which I absolutley love. I don't really care if I am a CA as long as they protect my pay....I cannot afford to lose again. I will quite happily fill shelves or pick .com or whatever, but HOW is this going to bring more staff to the shop floor? T/L in my store are always on the shop floor anyway, so the headcount is not going to increase, just means managers will be more stressed cos they wont have their T/L to fallback on. I don't mind not doing rotas, WB meetings, exceptions and such like, let them get on with it. I am there to serve the customers, which Phil Clarke seems to have forgotten about in his eagerness to attract the multichannel customers. Yes, that is the way most companys are going, but what about these customers walking through our stores every day?
Imagine, no more working hours for nothing, no change of shift at the drop of a hat! Can't get boxing day covered? Tough. This soon to be ex Team Leader wont be working it either :)
Oh, and I have been a loyal employee for more than 20 years
