Im a team leader in an express store. This has prob been in the pipe line for a while. Prob since express had their bonus cut and went on the same pay as everywhere else. I used to work in a superstore so i know how hard the staff all work. But I do see where they are coming from with this. I earn the same as a TL in another format yet I run a store 5 shifts a week 36.5hrs a week. im paid 36.5 but my shifts work out min 37.5-38 depending on shift pattern. I get no overtime pay but do on average 10-12 extra a week minimum sometimes a lot more. short staffed we have to just deal with it as no where to get relief staff from. Break whats that? i get 1.5hrs a day taken off me and im lucky if i get chance to go to the loo never mind eat or drink. I do cash, stock ,serve, fill, all routines,open up, close down, tip wagons, promo changes, PI, training, oversee audits and day to day jobs and many more. so basically a managers job on TL wage. the only main diff between me and my line manager is they do wages but I actually know how to do them too so not a lot of difference yet they get a lot more than i do. Protected pay to do a GAs job i would take it tbh. They havent said its all team leaders. Why not come try out express.
