Being a team leader myself and only hearing of this news on monday has absolutely disgusted me!! In our store line managers and senior managers rely on us heavily to ensure jobs are done and and the correct 'service' is given. Line managers already work more hours with less breaks than they should in order to complete their own tasks cutting the team leader role would see line managers without a life to live even more so! And Tesco make me laugh with their ridiculous reasons for cutting the role... They are cutting the role to save money SIMPLE! With many stores around our area even struggling to pay people overtime and numerous staff working for Time back which we then have to fight to actually have back because we are that short staffed. Not to mention the fact several stores are having refits !! Non food refit, produce refit, and checkout refit which consists of having another yep another self service put in place, and scan as you shop what a waste of money! Considering many of our regular customers choose to queue in order to be served by the cashier they like spending time with and having face to face contact with. Both myself and my partner are team leaders this would see our financial situation affected massively! Go ahead tesco cut the role because I guarantee this will have a huge impact on your sales and the moral in your stores which already sucks!!!
