from what I can tell, the main reason for this restructure is that the line manager role has become close to impossible over the past couple of years, and viewpoint reflects this. as someone said earlier, as things stand at the moment, team leaders are physically running the departments whilst line managers are expected to come in, do 5 hours on dotcom, 2 hours rumble and then 2 hours on a till whilst still 'engaging our staff on customer viewpoint' 'coaching 10ft hi' etc etc and never having a single moment to actually spend quality time with their teams. so from what I can gather they are putting in several senior roles which will take care of some of the current line manager duties such as duty management, and I'd take a guess at promotion management, shrink and waste etc.. as well as heavily investing in dotcom. the new team manager role would then have the time again to go back to basics and actually be on their department and coach service etc with their teams and be a sort of TL/manager. I feel sorry for all current TLs but it feels like the right move
