The people who run the stores are the ga's, at our store over the past 2 years our numbers on nights have reduced considerably, through natural means such as people leaving, retirement, job role changes, with not one being replaced, thereby leaving the rest of us who remain a heavier workload. Now then to me, team leaders arent needed, they never were, we managed well enough before these roles were introduced. At our store this is a team leader role, to read team 5, to read a list of names a manager wrote beforehand of staff who are in on that shift and what role they are doing on said shift, to report to a manager how things are going and to do training which involves playing a video and givingyou the answers to copy down, the rest of the time is spent doing a ga's role. Worth 3 grand extra a year! I dont think so, all these things I mentioned can be done by anyone, I iknow this because I have done and do it now myself! A cull on team leaders and managers and investment in the roles that really count would be most welcome in my opinion! I dont agree with a lot of decisions have taken over the years but this one I do! I also agree with sue that the union are in the back pocket of tesco and woukd advise snyone in any role to give them a wide berth :)
