One of the few supermarkets that I have trusted to be slightly better in principle than some of the others, has now let us down big time.
Chicken welfare is a consumer issue but is conveniently hidden away in big sheds. We won't eat high street chicken meals or anything with processed chicken in. We have witnessed the way in which the UK's chickens are reared and it is disturbing and disgusting.

We therefore looked to stores like the Co-oP to offer better choices and to lead the way in ethical food supply, even though it will cost a bit more. As the UK's biggest farmers they had to opportunity to take this further and become the best supplier in this sector.

Instead they have caved in and followed the same muck cart that the other big stores are following. We have now stopped buying chicken form the CO-OP and are reducing our spend with them. Hope that helps!
