This is a very smart move. Consumers are looking to be entertained and want brands with personality. Feel good = good sales.
Recently we've seen a good number of ads using animated characters be very successful. Consumers love them. Even the conservative financial brands are using them, the Compare the Market Meerkat, the Churchill Dog and many others.
FMCG has seen a Panda (Fox’s biscuits), a Monkey (PG Tips), a Gorilla (Cadbury) and the latest, a Zebra singing the Noel Coward song, Every Little Fish (Total Greek Yoghurt).
My only advice, add an animal to the Tetley Tea Folk group and by Christmas you’ll be selling loads of stuffed toys too.
