Love the comments about not filling in Viewpoints. I work in a very busy Metro with 72 people, I know of at least 3 who did not fill it in and yet we came back with 100% and 73 people responding! Now how is that possible? We also came back with 'Having great staff morale.' Our morale is at rock-bottom! Managers bully us to get what they want, customers are getting ruder and we have to take it as we are not supported by managers. We get the blame for not having stock on the shelves or not having trollies available or not enough staff on checkouts or anything else they can think of. Managers constantly tell us we are 'overbudget' in the wages dept even though our store regularly takes in over £250K a week. We are all running around like blue-arsed flies trying to do 3 or 4 different things at once and we're still told we're not working hard enough and our jobs could easily be filled if we weren't happy. And at all times we have to smile and 'love every customer.' Who thinks of these things?!
Our store manager is the worse bully of all but customers love him as he smarms up to them and blames his staff for anything that they're unhappy with. He also makes staff lie and cheat for him in areas like overcharges and RP125s under threat of disciplinaries and when a Royal Visit is expected extra staff are drafted in to constantly face off. Excess cages and other stuff is pushed into locked rooms and he gets a big gold star for running a tight ship!
