I have to say that I find the comments regarding line managers as lazy is just not fair. I have been a line manager for almost 5 years and I give just as much as my 2 team leaders, who I do feel for as they are fantastic at what they do. I work in a small format and I agree my team leaders are vital to my departments smooth running, but I would point out that so are the line managers. I barely have 1 meeting a day the rest of my day I am on one of my departments. I would ask you to remember that these changes effect managers as well as team leaders, changes to our job roles will likely mean a pay decrease at some stage. So please this emotion around team leaders jobs should not be aimed at line managers!!
