I am not convinced by this for several reasons:

1. Since it is invisible how will we know if it is on the meat or not and is it going to be phased in whether we like it or not. Maybe it is already happening....how would we know?

2. I personally feel that Halal meat should be illegal in the UK but at present it is being forced on the British consumer to appease the Muslims....are there certain to be no traces of alcohol or pig related products in the coating. If there are it is going to face enormous problems as it conflicts religions.

3. The suggestion is that the wrapping on meat at present is to preserve the meat BUT we all know it is part of the MARKETING from the retailer. Just because the meat is coated does not mean it can lay in the display cabinet without any protection from the consumers hands.

4. We already have a place to go for meat which has minimal packaging and maximum freshness and it is called a butcher. Maybe they should have researched shopping habits as to why it is so difficult to buy meat according to a persons life. After all the meat that does not keep for 3 days is easily frozen to use when convenient.

These are my immediate thoughts
