My son was seriously exploited by Tesco, when he worked at an 'Express' as a student.

They understood that he had serious computer skills and an innate understanding of stock control. So, at £6 an hour he took on a lot of this responsibility on his shift. He was, however still expected to do some of the shelf stacking that he was originally employed to do. This meant that, regularly, he would do 45-90 minutes of unpaid work on every shift and the manager thought that this was OK.

Is it any wonder that Aldi took him on?
Employing bright, hard working people, who are relatively well paid and who are 'recognised' for their achievement, engagement and passion is how you build a team of brand advocates. Perhaps there is a lesson there for Tesco.

Jack Cohen would understand that.
