I received the email this morning, so surprised Sainsburys are cutting points from our main shopping section. We do our main shop in Sainsburys every week, watching prices rise, rather than being cut as they would have you believe. So we ask ourselves whether we try another supermarket? Sainsburys have answered our question. Nectar currently keeps us loyal. Yes others do similar schemes but a few points on one store card and some more on another is just inconvenient. Do Sainsburys not realise a good loyalty scheme keeps shoppers in store regularly? “Bonus” schemes are ok, but everyone descends during these periods, and disappears once they have finished. A consistently good reward scheme keeps the same shoppers coming back week in week out. Don’t get blasé Sainsburys, your shoppers can think for themselves, and there is a lot of completion out there. Look at Tescos fall from grace. In a time where focus is very much on supermarkets, you need to be better than the rest, that doesn’t mean giving your shoppers less!
