"A sold item is just that... SOLD"
I work for Tesco head office and its people like you who drive me round the bend. You have no idea of the law, Tesco could not possibly honour this for the THOUSANDS of people who spread it round twitter and were placing orders for like 50 at once to then pawn off on ebay for a profit. If you read the Terms and conditions for Tesco direct they clearly state "Your order is an OFFER to buy from us. We will send you an order confirmation email and an estimated date for delivery. Please note that this email is not acceptance of your order by Tesco.
Nothing that we do or say will amount to any acceptance of your offer until we send you an email notifying you that we have despatched the product." Nobody reads this so I get to spend my day on the phone to greedy people shouting about compensation for the laws we supposedly break. This country is fillled with people consumed by greed and convinced they know everything, with no real evidence to back that up. Moral of the story is if you see something online that is so obviously an error, dont jump the gun and order 10 of them then get your knickers in a twist when your advised that the order is cancelled.
