Having spent 5 months in NZ in the last 2 years, and travelled the full length from top to bottom. My wife and I saw lots of cows. One thing that became very clear, was that most were black and white (Friesian or Holstein). Not the Jerseys that we expected. As a former farm manager, I know the butter fat levels of these breeds are very different. The Jerseys being much higher. In Europe the milk produced from grass usually has a lower BF than that produced from silage and concentrates. I assume it is the same for NZ black and white cows. All factors to take into account. In theory the change of cow type in NZ will produce a similar milk (BF) as in Europe. Am I right ? As far as being duped, yes I was buying Anchor as I felt I was supporting NZ, now I do not. J.M.
