Waitrose recently introduced us to frushi, now Japan is offering a new food hybrid: the Caramel Muffish (JPY117.00/£0.85). A cross between a muffin and brioche, it has a soft but crispy texture and is great to enjoy on the go.
You can just imagine the aroma as you toast this Cinnamon & Popcorn Flavoured Speciality Bread (ZAR14.97/£0.79), which is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. This unusual flavour might not work for your lunchtime cheese sandwich though…
Made with coconut milk and brown rice flour, Cannelle Bakery’s Banana Bread (CAD5.99/£3.48) is a reinvented classic. This gluten-free, wholegrain bread contains real banana and has no artificial additives or preservatives.
There’s no need to butter or fill this Coconut & Chocolate Bagel (JPY129.00/£0.94), which has a tasty chocolate coating. Packaged in single units, these bagels are quick and easy to grab and enjoy at any time of day.
It has long been a popular toast topper and sandwich filler, now Nutella has arrived in B-ready Biscuits format (€3.55/£2.97). These are baguette-shaped crunchy waffle pieces filled with the chocolate and hazelnut spread, which retail in packs of eight.
Pre-toasted and heated up in three to four minutes, this Toast Filled with Apricot Quark Filling (€1.99/£1.67) is a quick and unusual snack. This hassle-free toastie also comes in a nougat cream flavour.
With the flavour and texture of a classic pretzel but irresistibly bite-sized, these Soft Pretzel Dippers (CAD2.99/£1.74) can be enjoyed with sweet or savoury dips. Each pack contains 16 dippers, which are best served warm.
Packed with protein, fibre and plenty of green veg, Romaine Veggie & Whole Grain Sliced Bread ($6.99/£5.24) contains 65 calories a slice. This vegan product is great for getting veg into children’s diets, so luckily it is ‘kids approved’.
It’s hard to know what goes into a lot of shop-bought breads, but with this Wholemeal Bread with No Added Sugars (€1.59/£1.33) you can be sure of one thing. This sliced loaf contains natural sugars only and is made with French wheat flour.
It may sound French, but this Thai Baguette (CAD2.27/£1.32) is flavoured with sesame seeds and spices to give it an exotic flavour. It is baked using an old-fashioned method and would be great for creating Bánh Mì, a type of Vietnamese sandwich.
