Sainsbury is introducing touch-screen facilities to allow customers more interactivity and the option to give instant feedback.

It has added touch-screen displays at its in-store customer service desks that allow customers to rate the performance of staff as soon as they have spoken to them. A company spokeswoman said that the displays had been installed where appropriate but would eventually be rolled out to all stores.

Sainsbury has also introduced listening posts that operate through a touch-screen display, allowing customers to choose and listen to tracks from the top 100 album and singles charts. The spokeswoman added that the posts would be available in larger stores or those with a large home entertainment section.

The retailer has taken advantage of a recent refurbishment at its former Savacentre store in Merton, south London, to trial the new features.
