Sainsbury has made sweeping changes to its trading and supply chain management just one month after announcing the departure of five senior managers. Laurence Clube, who is currently director of the household, food and drinks division, will manage its transition into three business units - one for beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks, snacks and petrol, another for core grocery and frozen food and a non-food grocery business.
Clube will then take the role of director of the first unit. Directors for the remaining two have yet to be appointed.
Penny Teale joins the trading team as business unit director for general merchandise and global sourcing. She joins from Homebase. Karen Schenstrom, director of general merchandise, will become business unit director for produce, meat, fish and poultry. Tim Goalen joins Sainsbury from Safeway to become senior manager for supply chain optimisation - store supply chain and logistics.
