Scottish Courage has switched the emphasis for its first major promotion of the year from Foster's to Kronenbourg 1664. For the last five years the brewer has unveiled big budget Fostralia promotions which it said had been a major success. This year it plans to do the same for Kronenbourg 1664. But marketing director Brian Sharp said something major would be unveiled on Foster's for the summer. Kronenbourg is the second biggest beer brand in Europe behind Heineken and SC bought it from Danone for £1.7bn last year. Foster's is the sixth biggest brand in Europe. The big push behind Kronenbourg 1664 involves a link with Peugeot scooters. Specifically it is offering consumers the chance to win 100 X-Team Speedflight 2s. These are the UK's bestselling scooters and are worth £1,824. These will be given away through on-pack promotions and tailor made activities. A prize draw will run on 440ml cans and multipacks of 330ml bottles for 40 scooters, and a collector mechanic allows consumers to save £100 off a Peugeot scooter. The promotion will be supported with a roadshow with scooters displayed in 50 stores. There will also be linked promotions in wholesale and convenience sectors with additional prizes including Kronenbourg 1664 mountain bikes. There will be a full range of PoS material. Both Kronenbourg and Peugeot scooters have been growing rapidly. SC marketing director Brian Sharp said in the last five years 1664's UK volume sales had quadrupled. Since 1997 the scooter market has grown by 650% and Peugeot has 20% of that. {{DRINKS }}
