A new pan-European snacks brand for kids was unveiled at the show by Unichips. The Wacko's Surprise range comprises four flavours of crisps and two snack products with the taste of each one specially adapted to suit younger palates. The neat twist is that every pack contains a different Wacko figure and these are changed every few weeks to encourage repeat purchases among the target audience of six to 12 year olds. Marketing manager Jean-Pierre Bian-Rosa said the "potato head" character plays the leading role in every aspect of the brand's promotional strategy which includes tv ads, internet and PoS. Unichips plans to launch Wacko's Surprise across the continent in January. There are no immediate plans to launch in the UK even though the group has a factory in Scotland where it produces the Highlander brand. Bian-Rosa said: "You need a complex launch programme and it's difficult to do that for lots of countries at the same time." But he said a decision about a UK launch would be made in the second half of next year. {{NEWS }}
