Planet Organic has entered new own label territory with the launch of a supplement line under a new ‘Planet Originals’ moniker.
The specialist retailer has rolled out a range of 10 own-brand supplements, the first Planet Originals launch.
It worked in partnership with supplier Cambridge Commodities, as well as an expert team of pharmacists and nutritionists, to develop the new range.
“It’s a real milestone for us to be able to announce the launch of our range of Planet Originals supplements,” said CEO George Dymond.
“This has been a labour of love for so many members of our team, and I can’t wait to share the passion and commitment which has gone into the development of the range with our customers.”
The range, which is now available in stores and online, includes food supplements such as zinc, calcium and magnesium. Each supplement contains 60 tablets, and prices range between £11 and £22 per unit.

Whilst some of the ingredients sourced for the supplements do not hold organic certification (which typically goes against the retailer’s motto), it said that it was committed to finding alternative routes to those in a way that respected all of its requirements in terms of quality and sustainability.
Dymond said he was “hugely excited by the prospect of expanding the range of products bearing the Planet stamp of approval”, but that for now he hoped this new line encouraged customers to continue shopping with the grocer.
The move is part of Planet’s expansion strategy, which will see it significantly ramp up its store estate in the next three years, focus more on online shopping, and improve supply chain efficiency.
