Amazon has opened a new physical store in Chalk Farm, the fifth convenience grocery store to offer Just Walk Out shopping in the UK.
The e-commerce giant launched its first physical retail site outside North America in Ealing in March. Its other UK stores are situated next to Wembley Stadium, in White City and in Canary Wharf.
Like those stores, the Chalk Farm Amazon Fresh store requires shoppers to use the Amazon app to enter, then simply fill their bags with products and “just walk out”.
The 2,500 sq ft store stocks everyday ingredients and essentials as well as ready-made meals and a wide range of ‘by Amazon’ hot food items freshly prepared in store. Amazon Fresh stores also sell household goods, newspapers and magazines, flowers, greetings cards and more.
To mark Amazon’s online sales ‘Prime Day’ next week, from today all five London stores will be offering customers a free hot drink.
Amazon has opened new Fresh stores in the capital at a rate of one every 19 days, which if continued would give the company around 16 sites by the end of the year.
“We are excited to see how customers like the Amazon Fresh stores and look forward to opening more in the greater London area in the future,” Amazon said.
