Sainsbury’s has increased the number of stores offering delivery via Deliveroo by more than 30%.
An additional 65 Sainsbury’s stores have been brought onto the platform, bringing the total to 336 across the UK.
New locations include Winchester, Marlow, Barking, Loughborough, Watford and Lancaster, and mean “tens of thousands more households” have access to a range of more than 1,500 Sainsbury’s products “available for delivery on-demand” Deliveroo said.
“With more and more shoppers looking for convenient and affordable food and grocery products from Sainsbury’s delivered to their doors, we’re pleased to be expanding our partnership with Deliveroo to even more locations, helping to make it as quick and easy as possible for our customers to shop with us,” said Matthew Roberts, director of channel strategy at Sainsbury’s.
In April last year Deliveroo and Sainsbury’s formalised a trial of the service, and signed a two-year contract.
Sainsbury’s products are also available on Uber Eats.
“As people continue to change the way they shop, including on-demand grocery delivery as part of their regular shop, we’re pleased to be bringing this choice to even more households across the UK,” said Carlo Mocci, chief business officer UK&I at Deliveroo.
Announcing the expansion with Sainsbury’s, Deliveroo revealed the top five products platform users have been ordering from the supermarket. They were: Fairtrade bananas, semi-skimmed milk, whole cucumbers, eggs and Taste the Difference easy peelers.
