Tesco has opened a 240,000sq ft national distribution centre in Daventry that will handle all of its clothing ranges.

The facility, operated by Tibbett and Britten, will free up space at distribution centres in Milton Keynes that were not designed to handle clothing and will now have the capacity to process more non-food lines such as hardware, sports equipment, toys and crockery, said distribution and supply chain director Stuart Ross.

“We have clothing departments to be proud of in our stores and now we have a supply chain and distribution solution that will make things better for customers, simpler for our staff, and cheaper for Tesco.”
