Tesco has rolled out a new logo across its fresh foods lines in a bid to ramp up its quality credentials.

The Quality & Freshness Guaranteed logo started going on fruit & veg as well as salads and a number of meat and fish products last week.

It also appears on a section of Tesco’s website with the heading ‘Our Quality Commitment’, which states: “We are confident about the quality of our food. If you are not 100% happy with any of our food, don’t forget we will replace or refund it.”

And the retailer has been using a variation of the logo ‘Quality & Freshness Every Day’ on press ads in national newspapers for products such as Jersey Royals, Finest Lamb and Cornish ice cream.

“It’s a guarantee that customers can expect a certain freshness and quality,” said a Tesco spokesman.

However, unlike other logos displayed on Tesco products such as Tesco Nurture, the supermarket’s independently accredited farming standard the new guarantee does not signify that the product on which it is displayed has been subject to any specific certification or standard, the spokesman added.
