Tesco is stepping up its trial of Click & Collect lockers for general merchandise and clothing after successful trials in the London area.
In August, Tesco installed lockers at its Yiewsley superstore and Orpington Extra sites to make it quicker for shoppers to retrieve their orders than the current process at the customer service desk. It said lockers reduced the average collection time from two minutes to 20 seconds.
In the past two weeks, the trial has been extended to a further seven locations: Leigh on Sea (Essex), Broadstairs (Kent), Harpenden (Hertfordshire), Faringdon (Oxfordshire), Feltham (Greater London), Osterley (Greater London), and New Malden (Greater London). The seven new locations include three Extras, one superstore, one Metro and two Express stores.
“The Click & Collect options we are trialling are just one part of our focus on using technology to make the lives of Tesco customers easier,” said Robin Terrell, Tesco UK MD.
Tesco added more than two-thirds of Tesco Direct customers were now choosing Click & Collect as their preferred delivery option.
