CONSUMER’S VERDICT
DAVID LEGGE, POSTGRADuate STUDENT, 26, CARDIFF

This is essentially Batchelors’ answer to Pot Noodle and being a student it’s good to know that there’s another quick, cheap eat on the market, especially as SuperNoodles To Go tastes better than its rival.

I tried the Sweet & Sour and Curry flavours, which were tasty and filling. However, the cooking instructions were not very practical. For example, after adding boiling water you have to replace the lid and leave to stand for two minutes - I read this after throwing the lid in the bin. I replaced the lid on my second pot but there was no difference in the end result.

The sauce was less powdery than Pot Noodle’s and there was less residue. I would buy a Batchelors pot over Pot Noodle - but it needs to expand its range before I’ll become a happy artificially-flavoured student for the year.

Buyer’s verdict
Stewart Waldie, buying controller, Nisa-today’s

This product should perform well as a direct competitor to Pot Noodle in the snacking market. The packaging stands out well on-shelf and is possibly more user-friendly, with the tub slightly shallower and wider than its competitor, making it easier to eat from.

The price-point reflects the market and the four flavours available are, as expected, fairly mainstream and should appeal to the target consumer base.

Of the four varieties, I preferred the two chicken-based products, which I found to be a fairly substantial snack.

I feel that as a result of the success of the standard packets of SuperNoodles, consumers will have confidence in this new pot version and accept it more readily.
