The finer points of Cobra beer
Zoe Smith Marketing manager, Cobra Beer Sir; After reading the letter from Nick Holmes in The Grocer on 19 May, we wanted to clear up the points he raised in relation to our newly released Cobra Bite fruit-flavoured lagers ('Clarity about lager needed at Cobra', The Grocer, 19 May, p30). The description of Kriek and Fruli as "specialist lagers" was indeed incorrect - unfortunately I think there was a case of crossed wires here as in our press release we describe these as being "specialist Belgian beers". With regards to 'Kriek' meaning 'cherry', this is something we are aware of but believe consumers generally know and refer to these beers simply as 'Kriek' rather than Liefmans or Belle Vue Kriek.
