Sainsburys fascia store

For the second week running a Sainsbury’s store picked up the service and availability award with a score in the 90s.

Sainsbury’s Dulwich store provided a full basket of 33 products and top marks in all but two of our categories, giving it 94 points. Despite the bank holiday, our shopper found the store to be “very well-stocked” with a “neat and tidy” shop floor. But it was the staff who most impressed our shopper. They were “very helpful and friendly” and willing to “go out of their way to help customers”.

Waitrose in Cheltenham secured second place despite an ongoing refit. Our shopper felt the “new part of the store looked very freshly done” and though there were “a couple of empty gaps” the store overall “looked to be well stocked”. Staff were “easily identifiable” and “on hand to help” but some did not seem “particularly confident”.

Tesco in Telford appeared to show some “general wear and tear” with “mess and empty boxes” littering the entrance, which let down an otherwise “good first impression”.

Our shop found Asda Carterton “small” and “very cramped”. She described her shopping experience as “dreary and cluttered”, highlighting “quite scruffy” surplus stock stored on top of display units as creating the feel of “a bargain store”.

The car park let down Morrisons in Welling. Our shopper suggested “a bit of reorganisation” was necessary. A confusing entrance, tight turns and a lack of signage all contributed to our shopper “having trouble” trying to park.
