Waitrose wins again this week with 81 points. Its Chester branch looked “new, attractive, clean” and “neat”. The shopper was impressed with an employee who helped her look for an item that appeared unavailable, but who later came to find the shopper to say she had found the product required. The store had one unavailable item.
Tesco in Hull gave a great first impression and overall felt like a “great place to do a weekly shop”. Staff members took the shopper to find items and were described as “pleasant”. They had full availability of the 33 items and an “excellent” range of facilities. But the shopper thought “there should have been more tills open” and when she arrived home she noticed on the receipt that one item had been scanned three times.
Sainsbury’s Leicester North store had restocking taking place but staff were “working efficiently”. In the majority of instances staff were “very helpful” and a “proactive” employee was directing customers to empty checkouts.
The Asda store in Brighton Marina seemed “dated and dull” with “marks on the floor” and “lots of empty boxes on the shelves”. However, it scored top marks for shop floor service and there were “lots of staff around to ask for help”.
Morrisons in Eastbourne was “clean and very tidy” and appeared to be a “well ordered and managed store”. Our shopper noted that a number of own-label products were out of stock - of the 33 items three were unavailable. Employees who were asked for help were “polite” but the staff member on checkout was “not very friendly”.
