The big news at Morrisons is the ‘I’m cheaper’ strategy. How is it all going? It has been going great so far. It has certainly helped grow footfall and shoppers also seem to be buying more items. Feedback from customers has been very positive. We are pushing hard for what they want to see in the store so that’s been very encouraging.
It must have been quite a job getting the store ready for the big reveal. Yes, we were told what was happening on Wednesday evening ahead of the big launch on Thursday. We had a busy evening getting everything ready, and the teamwork was crucial, but I find that Morrisons is at its best when everyone has to pull together. The colleagues here have all been really fired up by the new initiative.
Morrisons has also been working on de-cluttering the stores - has it happened there? We have removed the dump bins and taken the clutter out of the store. It is all part of making the store easier to shop. Again, customer feedback has been very positive and colleagues like it too as it is easier to stock and maintain availability.
The store is not far from the sea. You must be hoping for some hot weather to bring more shoppers in. I only came to the store three months ago so this will be my first summer here and I am really looking forward to it. It is a seasonal store but it’s a bit early to say how things are going just yet. The bank holidays do help bring people out and then we are also looking forward to the World Cup. Not sure what we are going to be doing yet, but I’m sure we will be doing something in-store.
You must be proud of the team to have won with so much else going on. I think all the credit has to go to the team here. This is the second time the store has won in just over a year, so to do it under two different managers shows how good a team we have. Their focus on driving availability and commitment to delivering the best customer service is second to none.
