None of our shoppers managed to pick up a full basket this week, with 30 out of the 33 lines the most we could get at any of the stores visited this week.
It was Morrisons in Liverpool that took the victory with a score of 74. It had one out-of-stock and four not-stocked lines but our shopper still found it an “enjoyable shopping experience in a light, airy environment”. The “happy, friendly and approachable staff” were keen to help.
Sainsbury’s in Salford was “clean, tidy and well-presented” and our shopper was “impressed by the level of customer service” he received from two members of staff in particular. The score of 67 was dragged down by three out-of-stock and two not-stocked lines.
Availability was also the major issue for Tesco store in Heswall on the Wirral, just a further point back on 66. Our shopper only collected 27 lines due to six out-of-stock items. Otherwise, she described the staff as nice, the checkout experience as quick and the parking easy.
Although there were seven not-stocked items at Waitrose in Glasgow, there were no out-of-stocks, earning the store a 100% score for availability. Staff were generally helpful but at times they were hard to track down when our shopper was looking for them.
There was also “a distinct lack of staff” in Asda Gloucester and when our shopper did find some to ask for help she found them “a bit hit and miss” with one member described as “quite rude”. There were also three out-of-stocks as the store retuned a low score of just 43.
