Underscored by best-in-class availability, Sainsbury’s in Frome wins this week. Our shopper loved the “extremely clear labelling and large aisles” and said that, though lots of staff were busy restocking, they “seemed happy to take the time to help”. One “persevered and requested more information” when approached about a product she did not initially recognise, then “confidently” took our shopper to the correct location.
Asda in Glasgow came a close second with a “large store” that “looked like it had recently been refurbished”. It scored well on shop floor service and checkout, with “really helpful” employees, though our shopper noted there was “not a lot of staff in evidence, either at counters or walking around”.
Tesco’s Toxteth store was “visually pleasing from the outset” and “sparklingly clean”. It scored full marks on shop floor service, with staff “friendly and willing to assist”. The “professionalism and attitude of staff” was a “huge bonus” but it was let down by poor availability, including five out of stocks.
Waitrose in Eastbourne was also “very attractive with nice displays” and “helpful, attentive staff” including those on checkout who were “very pleasant”. Our shopper felt more external signage would be useful, as there was “only one small sign from the main road”.
Morrisons in Lutterworth was “really pleasant to shop in” but our shopper noticed that “quite a few items had stickers saying out of stock”. The “friendly staff” were appreciated, especially on checkout where employees were “happily chatting away to customers”.
