In another low-scoring week, the 66 points chalked up by its Twickenham branch was enough for Waitrose to win for the second week in a row. The “vast majority” of shelves were “fully stocked” and displays were “very attractive”, though our shopper found the side entrance “quite shabby”.
Tesco in Leicester had an “eye-catching” homeware display on entrance, which “impressed” our shopper. Staff were “well presented and friendly” but our shopper was disappointed to receive incorrect information regarding deli meats. The checkout score was poor due to “two or three assistants not paying attention”.
Sainsbury’s in Liverpool delivered “excellent” store standards on an “enjoyable shopping trip”. Our shopper found it “easy to navigate” the store thanks to the “good, logical signage”. All staff members who were approached were “a credit to Sainsbury’s”, “friendly and happy to help”. Although its checkout service was good, “there were not enough open for the volume of customers”.
Morrisons in Cheltenham seemed “very messy”, with litter around the store and “empty boxes on the shelves”. There were also “several spills/leaks” and unattended crates full of cardboard. Our shopper struggled to find staff and had to walk “halfway back across the store” looking for help.
Asda in Frome was “easy to get around” and a “generally good experience” but it was let down by the shop floor service score and at checkout. Our shopper, when asking for help, said she was “ignored” and left feeling “like a burden”.
