Job title: Online director, Tesco
Tesco has committed to removing a billion plastic items from products by the end of 2020. How does online contribute to this? Our latest commitment will be seen by all customers who buy our products, however they choose to shop with us. Next year we will launch an online delivery service with Loop which will see groceries delivered in packaging that will be collected and reused.
The new Clubcard Plus doesn’t cover online. How do you encourage loyalty among online shoppers? Customers really appreciate our Delivery Saver, which gives them the ability to save money on delivery slots, with the added benefit of priority access to prime-time slots at peak times of the year. We also offer Delivery Saver customers the chance to use click & collect for free, as well as a lower minimum basket spend (£25).
When do delivery slots become available for Christmas? 27 November for Delivery Saver customers and 30 November for non-Delivery Saver customers.
Will Tesco online be taking part in Black Friday this year? We’ll have a number of non-food items available but we will also be helping to encourage customers into store where we’ll have the majority of our Black Friday lines.
How has the F&F deal with Next gone? It’s helping us showcase our best lines and allows our most loyal F&F customers to shop for clothing online.
Does Tesco have any plans for electric vehicles in its online fleet? We are already testing two electric vehicles, operating out of our Croydon and Greenfield customer fulfilment centres. We are currently working on a strategy for fleet electrification.
