Tesco in the St Rollox Business Park, Glasgow, won this week with an impressive 90 points. The store was described as “well organised” and the checkouts were “a shopper’s heaven”. Employees located items when they could not be found and checked the stockroom for products - resulting in 100% availability. Our shopper was impressed with the stock selection - “there were at least eight varieties of orange” - and would visit the store again.
Waitrose in Weston-super-Mare scored full marks for availability during a “positive shopping experience” resulting in a very credible score of 81. The shopper thought the products and shelves looked “fresh and enticing” but employees were thin on the ground. Our shopper said the “friendly and helpful staff… weren’t readily available”.
The “well laid out” Sainsbury’s in Stafford scored quite well on store standards as it was “clean and tidy… in a good state of repair”. Staff were “friendly and professional” but on this Sunday morning three items were unavailable.
One point behind, Morrisons in Banbury had full availability but suffered on shop floor layout as our shopper felt that having the deli section at the opposite end of the store from the fresh meat was a negative. While one staff member went to check for a product, another “pointed in the right direction but made no attempt to take me there”.
Asda in Holt Park, Leeds, had six unavailable products but staff members at the store were “really helpful”. Some stand-out employees were praised for having a very thorough look for products.
