In our BBQ bank holiday special, Waitrose Goldsworth Park in Woking massively impressed, gaining full points in the car park and at the checkout. The store was bright and airy. Staff were busy restocking shelves and aisles were clean and obstruction-free. Chris, who assisted in the wine aisle, impressed with his knowledge. Free wi-fi was available to those with a MyWaitrose card.
Even with the highest number of unavailable items, Morrisons Cardiff Newport Road only lagged Waitrose by a point. The store was tidy, well lit and laid out, and all staff polite. At the checkout there was no queue.
Sainsbury’s Leven was newly refurbished and had a “lively” feel. Chilled displays were “excellent” and the store looked “spotlessly shiny and clean.” Staff were few and far between on the floor but once found checked on the computer system to ensure accurate information about products.
The diversity of products at Asda Liverpool was “immediately impressive” but stock levels were low. The layout didn’t flow but signage made it easy to find products. Lots of staff were pleasant but there was a mistake on the receipt and availability could have been better.
The car park at Tesco Orpington was badly signposted and there was a queue to enter. There was a good variety of fruit & veg but the overall layout was “awkward” with the freezers in the middle of the store and the pharmacy on the mezzanine. The store had the lowest checkout score due to a long queue and the assistant not saying hello or offering to help with packing.
