Waitrose continues its winning streak, with its Reading store winning this week with 75 points. It offered a “fairly enjoyable” shop, with all the 33 items on our list in stock. The entrance featured “nice garden and flower displays”. There were “plenty” of staff to help on counter services, with the sushi counter a “standout”. The only negative was a security guard who made our shopper “feel uncomfortable” by “lurking nearby” on several occasions.
Morrisons in Darlington had an “outstanding range of services” and was “very well stocked”. Staff were “pleasant and attentive” but our shopper found it “quite hard” to find someone to help. She noted the “lack of trolleys and baskets” and that the entrance displays looked “a mess”.
Asda in Crawley had a “huge” selection of free-from and world foods. Staff were friendly and helpful but were also “thin on the ground”. The store had a “slightly gloomy feel” and six items were unavailable.
Tesco in Rutherglen was “bright, airy and fresh” with a “lovely” Easter display featuring a balloon arch. Our shopper “really enjoyed” the visit because of the “large variety of products”, calling the store “very pleasant”. Five items were unavailable, however.
Sainsbury’s in Wembley “appeared attractive” on entrance, but some restocking cages were left in the way of the aisles. Our shopper felt it was “not well stocked” and was also not as “organised” as other branches. Our shopper was also disappointed at the checkout, when she had to wait five minutes to be served.
